About The Event
Mícheál MacCraith is Professor Emeritus of Modern Irish at National University of Ireland, Galway. He served as the Guardian of the Franciscan college of Saint Isidore in Rome, and now lives and works in the Irish Franciscan house in Killiney, Co. Dublin. Prof. MacCraith’s principal research areas are seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Irish literature, Irish spirituality, Irish exiles in Europe, and twentieth-century poetry and prose in Irish. He is an expert in the area of Ossianic literature and the rise of Celticism, and has also published widely on aspects of early translations from Irish to English.
