Festival Interceltique de Lorient 2026.

As reported in the June edition of this newsletter, the 55th Interceltic Festival took place in Lorient, Brittany from 31 July to 9 August. This year's theme was 'Cornwall, at the heart of the Celtic Sea' and for ten sunny days the festivities included musicians, singers, dancers, exhibitions and, of course, refreshments!
Every year the festival attracts thousands of visitors from Brittany, Wales, Cornwall, Ireland, Scotland, the Isle of Man as well a Galicia, Asturias, and the diasporas. Entrance to the festival site is just 10 Euros (for all ten days) with an extra charge for special events or where space is limited.
Phil and Kayti Selbie ‘joined the dance’ again this year and especially enjoyed the Festival Symphony Orchestra performing the famous orchestral suites The Brendan Voyage and The Pilgrim by renowned Irish composer Shaun Davey.

For 2027, talented, innovative and dynamic women from Celtic countries will take centre stage. From Enya to Julie Fowlis, and from the Goadec Sisters to Brenda Wooton, Celtic musical history is dotted with strong female figures.
