Stories from Ireland - Cultúr Slovensko
Cultúr Slovensko is an Irish cultural association based in Slovakia, which promotes Irish culture and strengthens cultural connections between Ireland and Slovakia.
During November and December, they are organising Stories from Ireland, a series of four Irish films at Kino Lumière in Bratislava, celebrating Irish history, mythology, animation and our distinctive sense of humour.
With Ireland holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2026, it seems a particularly appropriate time to celebrate Irish culture and strengthen connections between Irish communities across Central Europe.
They’ve put together a programme to appeal to Irish people living in the region, their families and anyone with an interest in Ireland:
Song of the Sea – Saturday, 7 November, 15:00 (€5)
A beautiful Oscar-nominated animated film inspired by Irish folklore and mythology, ideal for families.
Michael Collins – Thursday, 12 November, 18:00 (€7)
Neil Jordan's historical drama starring Liam Neeson, exploring Ireland's struggle for independence.
Wolfwalkers – Saturday, 5 December, 15:00 (€5)
Another Oscar-nominated animated film from Cartoon Saloon, set in 17th-century Kilkenny and inspired by Irish folklore.
The Guard – Thursday, 10 December, 18:00 (€7)
A wonderfully entertaining Irish comedy starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle.
All four films will be screened in English with Slovak or Czech subtitles.
