What a day it was for the biggest ever CIBCA St. Patrick’s ParadeĀ - on Sunday March 15, 2026. Already this year we knew it was going to be bigger and better, largely due to the generousity of our sponsors - The Irish Times Bar and Guinness - and as Parade Director Darragh Price outlined in a recent Expats.cz interview. The weather was not quite as sunny as in the past two years, but that did not deter the participants, who started off at Duplex with the Kid's CĆ©ilĆ and Craft Workshop. Children and their parents took part in decorative arts and prepared themselves to participate in the Parade. There was also a performance from the Tip of the Tongue Troubadours choir led by the multi-talented Daniel Zappi. And then of course lessons in Irish dancing followed by an actual cĆ©ilĆ led by Parade co-director Tereza Macoszek-JindrovĆ”. Ā The event was hosted by Becki Miller, and the Parade Grand Marshalls Rebecca and Brendan from 98fmĀ were in attendance. As were St. Patrick, Molly Malone, Queen MaeveĀ and St. Brigid.

At 2pm, it was time for all Parade participants to line up on VĆ”clavskĆ© nĆ”městĆ, with Darragh Price on hand calling all to order with the Official Parade megaphone.

The Parade lineup was as follows –

As the departure time of 2:30 drew near, Larry the Leprechaun and other figures began to inflate, and soon were looming large over the street, much to the amusement of passers-by and the assembled Police escort. Many people were drawn to St. Patrick, the poor man was inundated with selfie requests, to which naturally he obliged - you could say that he had the patience of a saint.

And then with a roar from the Megaphone, we were off, people, dogs, sheep and inflatables proceeding majestically down towards Na Příkopě, where we took an abrupt right turn to head to NĆ”městĆ Republiky, crowds smiling and waving all the way.

By the way, you can check out the Irish Wolfhounds who participated here.

When we got to NĆ”městĆ Republiky we found the Festival main stage set up and ready for us - lead piper Chip Doehring led the procession onto the stage, the Flag Bearer placed the flag in its holder, and the Grand Marshalls were brought to the stage by our host for the afternoon Becki Miller. In fact the Grand Marshalls later reported on live radio from Duplex [on Monday morning] what a great time they had leading the Parade. Then St. Patrick treated us to a hearty rendition of some traditional songs and we had a warm welcome speech from Minister of State Colm BrophyĀ representing the Government of Ireland. Molly Malone also appeared briefly on stage and then it was time for the first act – Strahov rockers Foggy Dude, although when called they failed to appear – it seems we were a little ahead of schedule, so somebody was still snacking (!). Said snack having been dispatched, they came quickly to the stage and belted out a few of their lively numbers to the delight of the audience.

After that first set it was time for the CĆ©ilĆ Mór, which saw 60 dancers dancing together under the expert supervision of Tereza Macoszek-JindrovĆ”. Thereafter there were dance performances from TJ Academy of Irish Dance, CoiscĆ©imĀ and RinceoirĆ, and a beautiful choir performance from the Tip of the Tongue Troubadours, whose rendition of ā€œZombieā€ was truly moving. With the skies darkening it was already time for the main act – Celtic band Isara, who treated the crowd to an energetic but also thoughtful performance of Celtic songs.

It was a great day - and a huge thank you goes to our sponsors - The Irish Times Bar and Guinness.
