A Weekend Where Ireland Meets the Heart of Europe.

Prague once again came alive with Irish music and dance during Set Dance Weekend in Prague 2026, which welcomed more than 140 dancers from across Europe for a weekend full of workshops, ceilís, and live traditional music.

Organized by Sona Sól – Veselá Kopýtka together with TJ Academy of Irish Dance, the event transformed the historic Emauzy area into a vibrant gathering place for the international Irish dance community. (https://sonasol.com/cz/set-dance-weekend-in-prague/2026)

The dance program was led by renowned teachers Kevin and Carol Monaghan from Basingstoke, whose workshops attracted dancers of all levels throughout the weekend. Evening ceilís featured live music by the outstanding Swallow’s Tail Ceilí Band — Michael Hurley, John McHugh, Thomas Doherty, and Maria Lynn — keeping the dance floor full late into the night. A special cultural highlight of this year’s edition was the premiere of the traveling exhibition “UNESCO Ireland & the Top 10 Most Visited Places in Ireland.” Presented in collaboration with Ing. Jiří Králík, the exhibition added another dimension to the festival by showcasing Ireland’s cultural and historical heritage alongside the dance program. (tjacademyofirishdance.com)

The weekend also included a battering workshop by Tereza Macoszek Jindrová, late-night music sessions, and countless moments of shared dancing and community spirit in the center of Prague.

With participants traveling from multiple countries, Set Dance Weekend 2026 once again confirmed its place among the most popular Irish set dance events in Central Europe. Photograps from the event are presented below.
